Hikvision Tips to Reduce Cyberattacks and Minimize Security Concerns

The SecurityInfoWatch.com (SIW) article, “Security ignorance is not bliss,” outlines security concerns related to mounting security breaches, and provides steps to mitigate risk.

In 2019, 437 security breaches took place exposing more than 11 million records (as of May 7, 2019), according to the article.

“By not properly protecting their attack surface, companies are leaving themselves open to breaches. No company wants to suffer a [security] breach. From the financial cost to the reputation damage, the price is high. According to IBM’s 2018 Cost of a Data Breach Study by Ponemon, the global average cost of a data breach is $3.86 million,” from the article.

Tips to regain control over security concerns and cyber threats include:

  • Implement a multi-faceted approach to protect your systems because “there is not a single solution out there that can prevent against every type of attack in a hacker’s tool box.”

  • Make it more difficult for hackers to access data by removing the large economic incentive. The harder and costlier it is for a cybercriminal to implement a successful breach, the lower the risk of breach.

  • Take proactive measures to improve cybersecurity before a breach or incident occurs.
