Hikvision Prevails in Patent Infringement Suit

City of Industry, California – October 22, 2015 – Hikvision USA Inc., the North American leader in innovative, award-winning video surveillance products and solutions, has been declared the prevailing party in a patent infringement case initiated in the Eastern District of Texas by Trover Group, Inc. and The Security Center, Inc. Hikvision’s firm stance to safeguard its own interests extends to protecting its customers and end-users as well.

In 2013, the plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against Hikvision alleging that Hikvision’s products infringed U.S. Patent No. 5,751,346. Believing that the infringement claims had no merit, Hikvision chose to aggressively defend the case. The extensive litigation process included the application of inter partes review and victory during the claim construction phase. As a result, the plaintiffs sought voluntarily dismissal with prejudice of all claims against Hikvision and agreed to never again assert a claim against Hikvision, its customers, or end-users pertaining to the patent in question. In addition, the costs associated with the case were awarded to Hikvision.

A growing number of technology companies have been aggressively defending against patent lawsuits, and this case demonstrates that Hikvision has joined the frontlines of this fight. When faced with baseless litigation claims, Hikvision insists on seeking justice and truth, instead of succumbing to settlement offers. In doing so, Hikvision continues to serve the best interests of its customers and helps preserve the integrity of the video surveillance industry.

To learn more about Hikvision’s cutting edge video surveillance solutions, visit booth 553 at ISC East, held in New York, NY from November 18 to 19. While there, attend Hikvision’s presentation on cybersecurity and video surveillance on November 18 at 11:40 a.m. ET, theater 2.
